It's time for another Mic Drop session! The concept is simple: a personal, intimate atmosphere and a little stage, where great artists will perform. And the audience snaps and nods with their heads. This is not a poetry slam, it's not about comparison, it's about love, sounds cheesy, but it isn't. It just means to share writings and soundbites without competition, but with appreciation. And who could do this better than:

  • Hanna*
  • Selflovetribute
  • Cupid

I am an African/French Queerfeminist photographer, writer and audio artist based in Berlin. My work primarily focuses on portraiture, performance, and documentation through which I explore the varying nuances of intersectional identity, gender, intimacy and vulnerability within womxn, communities of color, LGBTQ+ communities and especially the intersectionality of those.

With an affinity for storytelling, I love capturing narratives from a genuine perspective. My work focuses on photographing the deep essence of individuals with profound honesty, sincerity and sensitivity, surpassing the traditional relationship between subject and image-maker. I try to adopt this perspective in my audio art project too, where I develop and explore my affinity for words, sounds and silence. All of my projects gather under the name “selflovetribute”, as I believe that “the most radical action is to love ourselves”, in a society that created race, gender, class and power as a way to oppress individuals.

Cupid: Kübra Varol is a non binary trans person of color performing as Cupid. They utilize dance, music, text, spoken word, drag and comedy in their performances which they see as a way to heal and encourage healing. Performing is a way they confront their deepest fears and through vulnerability, radical honesty and openness to failure, they intend to empower themselves and the audience.

Open Stage: Everyone who would like to perform: PM me one or two of your pieces. If you think "I am to nervous", guess what: me too. Every time. But you'll survive, really.

Host: Azadê

Entrance: As much as you can! I like events, that are accessible for everyone, so also those, who do not have that much money, but artists have to pay bills too, so…you get the idea :)
